As the capital city of Siena province, Toscana, Italy, Siena has a population of over 50,000. The bell tower and church steeple can be seen from far away as the city was built on a mountain. Medieval buildings are ubiquitous in the city. Its urban center was listed as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 1995, with Siena Cathedral and Piazza del Campo as its major attractions. The horse races, which surround the Piazza del Campo each year, is one of the highlights of the city. The city receives some 150,000 visitors each year.
