The National Library of China will share the digital version of more than 1 million books, 180,000 documents in foreign languages, 700 periodicals, photos, videos and educational material with other libraries in the country.
From Jilin to Guizhou province, readers from 20 libraries around the country will have access to the digital offerings via a special virtual network starting from Feb 4.
The project will go on to cover 33 provincial and 33 city-level libraries.
"We hope readers around the country will enjoy a New Year full of books with the help of our virtual network," Li Xiaoming, head of the National Library's digital resource and service department said.
The National Library will also provide online streaming of lectures on Chinese folk culture during the Chinese New Year.
