The Familiar Strangers is a group exhibition featuring 40 portrait paintings from nine artists, namely Yang Feiyun, Shen Shengqiu, Zhang Shaoyuan, Liu Renjie, Hu Jiancheng, Liu Yaming, Pang Maokun, Liu Jun and Cheng Yong.
Artists pick up the most familiar scenes and figures from daily life as the subject of their works. By using techniques of Realism, Classicalism or Photo Realism, these artists express both the subjects' outer characteristics which audiences can easily relate to and inner personalities, which would appear somewhat unfamiliar to some.
