The History of Chinese Civilization, Cambridge University Press
The four-volume book is Cambridge's latest title in its ambitious and influential series entitled The Cambridge China Library. Written by prestigious scholar Yuan Xingpei of Peking University, the book is "a history of Chinese civilization in its totality" as Cambridge's editor Lucy Rhymer says, because "There is no other work in the English language that covers this range of subjects in a single history." With previously little translated sources on the country’s history, the book will offer fresh thought and a new channel of West-East exchanges.
