The original musical by director Wang Xiaoying, known as I am Waiting for You to Return, is a mixed modern version of The Legend of White Snake and a modern story of love across the Taiwan Straits.
Skillfully combining reality, myth and elements of Yueju opera, the play tells of the life of the centenarian Bailan, who lived from 1912 to 2012 and ascended the Broken Bridge on West Lake four times in 100 years. Broken Bridge presents the ups and downs of a great woman along with the vicissitudes of the Chinese nation.
7:15 pm, March 6, 17. Shanghai Culture Square, 597 Fuxing M Road, Shanghai. 021-6418-9007.
