Fantastic oils

Artist Liu Guofu is bringing his solo exhibition Fantastic Scenery to Beijing, the second stop of his national tour.

After finishing a series of oil paintings with a Tibetan theme around 2000, Liu shifted his exploration to "inward inquiry", and created a new series that focused on wilted lotus, weed, dead wood and wasteland.

With these works, Liu aims to present an Eastern "fantastic scenery" in the world of multi-culture and globalization.

Reel views

Known for its provocative and cutting-edge installations, Osage Gallery is currently presenting Staged Fictions, a group exhibition featuring New York City's Patty Chang, Singapore's Ho Tzu Nyen and Hong Kong's Adrian Wong. The three artists welcome ambiguity by blurring the line between performance, choreography and real life documentation through the use of film, video and installation. Curated by Pauline J. Yao, the show challenges preconceived notions of reality with its fabricated scenarios depicting striking imagery.

10 am-7 pm, daily, by appointment. Osage Gallery, 5/F Kian Dai Industrial Building, 73-75 Hung To Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. 852-2793-4817

Art from the heart

Macao showcases the shortlisted work of 12 artists for the 54th Venice Biennale in its exhibition Mobility & Memory. Four of these artists will be represented at the Macao pavilion in Venice later this year and includes the dreamlike stills of Macao-born, England-based photographer Edgar Martins, an installation by artist James Chu Cheok Son, a video by Alice Kok and an installation by Joao Jorge Magalhaes; the last three are all based in Macao. The thought-provoking work questions the ever-evolving nature of Macanese identity by some of its most talented artists.

2 pm-7 pm, Tue to Fri; 11 am-7 pm, Sat & Sun; except Mon & public holidays; May 26 -Aug 21. Macao Museum of Art, Xian Xing Hai Avenue, S/N Nape, Macao, 853-8791-9814
