A taxi driver in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has touched the hearts of many with his efforts of trying to save a severely ill child.

When Li Lejun was driving in Guiyang on July 30, he pulled over to help a couple of people anxiously trying to hail down a taxi. One of the them held an unconscious child in the arms. The boy had a pale face and unusual skin tone.

On the way to hospital, Li was told the boy had a blood disease and was at risk of falling into coma. In the race against the time, Li double-flashed the headlights and ran three red lights.

However, despite the efforts of Li, the child stopped breathing and died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

"Maybe the boy would have been saved if I have driven faster," Li said while crying.

After verifying the situation, the local traffic police did not punish Li for running traffic lights.
