Shenzhen to hold summit on media integration

To push forward transformation and innovation in media industry, the Media Integration and Development Forum 2017 will be held in Shenzhen from August 18 to 19, organizers said on Friday.

Nearly 500 media representatives, scholars and industry insiders will gather to share their insights and views on how media industry could achieve better development by integrating with other industries and promoting innovation.

This year's event, themed "You are Me, I am You", will feature keynote speeches from heads of several state media, including China Daily, forums on diverse topics like how to promote innovation and development in media technology, how to retain core talents in the industry, etc.

The 2016-2017 report on media integration and development will also be published during the two-day event.

It is the third year for the event to be held in the southern city, known for its innovation.

"We have set Shenzhen as the permanent place to hold this major event in the media industry," said Pan Jian, deputy general manager of People's Daily Media Innovation.

"Shenzhen has the gene of innovation. The city has made a lot of achievements in innovative development," he told reporters at the forum's news conference in Shenzhen on Friday.

A number of well-known innovative enterprises including Tencent, Huawei and DJI Innovation are located in Shenzhen.

"We hope Chinese media could work with those enterprises to promote integrated development," Pan said.

The annual event is co-organized by People's Daily and Shenzhen municipal government.
