"Every year, I make around 20,000 yuan during the two-month peach flower months by having tourists ride my yak," said Ogyen.

The 32-year-old said many domestic tourists from China's coastal cities have never seen a yak or horse, so many of them wanted to experience the feeling of sitting on one.

Apart from tourism, his family plants barley, wheat, corn, and they also herd a few animals including yaks and cows, but the farming and herding only meet their basic needs.

Similar to Ogyen, the villager Sangye's family operates an inn, and they have already made 6,000 yuan from the inn this year.
