Festive images get makeover

Pictures have traditionally been used by the Chinese to mark the Spring Festival as a symbol of good fortune.

In the 1980s, street vendors selling calendars featuring beautiful women in Beijing were a common sight.

But now tastes have changed, and you see people returning to their roots, like with this Spring Festival picture competition in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, where contestants draw roosters to celebrate the coming of the lunar New Year.
