Shenzhen is striving to play a bigger role in boosting the international influence of the country's electronics information industry by establishing a global industry platform.
The Consumer Electronics Exchange/Exhibition Center (CEEC), officially launched in Shenzhen on Thursday, aims to build into an international high-end platform for product release, exhibition, experience, investment, cooperation and trade.
Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, ZTE Corporation, Skyworth Group and three other enterprises signed a cooperative agreement with CEEC at its launch ceremony. Nearly 100 enterprises in the industry have expressed their willingness to move into CEEC, Liu Zhijun, general manager of CEEC, said.
"China has already developed into the world's manufacturing, consumption and purchasing center of consumer electronics, but it does not have an exhibition and trading platform that holds the same influence as Consumer Electronics Show of the US," Liu said.
"CEEC, with its unique advantages in location and industry resources, is going to become the driver of Shenzhen's industry upgrade. It will also help increase influence of the city's electronics information industry."
According to Liu, CEEC will help promote Chinese enterprises by organizing salons, lectures and forums, and will cooperate with international market players to help them "go out".
More than 10 theme zones will be set up at the center, including VR/AR, smart home, drone/robots and smartphones.
According to official statistics, the total output of Shenzhen's electronics information industry amounted to about 1.5 trillion yuan last year, accounting for one seventh of the country's total.
