GUIYANG -- Eight people have been trapped in a flooded coal mine in Southwest China's Guizhou province, authorities said Monday.
Days of torrential rains triggered flooding of a river near the Nasheng Coal Mine in Dingxiao Township of Qiandongnan Miao and Buyi Prefecture Sunday, trapping eight miners in a shaft, said an official with the emergency response office of the prefecture.
Rescue is under way, and damages remain unknown.
