SHENYANG-- Health authorities in northeast China's Liaoning Province confirmed one H7N9 case Thursday.
The male patient, 67, lives in Tiexi District of Shenyang, the provincial capital. He got a fever two or three days after disposing of some sick poultry he had raised.
The patient is receiving treatment in hospital and is in a stable condition.
H7N9 was first reported to have infected humans in March 2013 in China. Cases usually occur in winter and spring. While a large-scale outbreak is unlikely, sporadic infections have been reported.
Another three cases of H7N9 human infection were reported in Beijing and Tianjin earlier this week.
