A married couple in Zhengzhou came to thank a local bus driver on May 20 as he encouraged them to get to know each other while on the bus on the very day three years ago, reported dahe.cn on Saturday.
Wang Ning and Li Zhiyou were sitting next to each other on the bus but neither talked to the other. After a few stops, Wang and Li stood up at the same time and tried to give their seats to a older woman who had just gotten on the bus.
Wang said to Li, "You must be very tired since you are wearing high heels. Let this lady sit in my seat!"
The senior sat in Wang's seat and thanked him, saying "You two are so kind. What a perfect couple!"
Wang and Li shyly explained they were not a couple. The driver, who saw the situation unfold, encouraged the younger people to take the chance to get to know each other.
Following the bus driver's idea, they shared their numbers and WeChat IDs. Wang and Li quickly got to know each other and fell in love. On May 20, 2015, they got married.
Wang said that at first their parents were not positive about their relationship but they never gave up and finally won their parents' blessing.
Wang described their marriage "hard-earned".
"Back then I was about to get off after a few stops and she was not a regular commuter. If we didn't give our seats to the old lady and the bus driver didn't encourage us, we wouldn't have gotten to know each other. It's destiny," he said.
