Tibet suffers 5.5-magnitute earthquake

Tibet's Dingchen county was hit by a 5.5-magnitude earthquake at 9:15 am on Wednesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 31.99 degrees north latitude and 94.94 degrees east longitude, with a depth of seven kilometers.
Local authorities said there are 60 confirmed injuries so far, and that they were immediately sent to the Qamdo People's Hospital.
Officials say many houses are partially collapsed, and there are also damages of roads and bridges. Rescuers are on their way to the scene.
Dingchen county is about 800 kilometers away from Lhasa, the capital city of the Tibet autonomous region. The quake was felt in the neighboring counties of Palpar and Riwoche.
The local government has already prepared emergency supplies ready to be transported to the needed places.
