BEIJING - By the end of last year, 3,590 procuratorates at different levels nationwide had publicized more than 2.5 million pieces of information on case development through a website launched in October 2014, in an effort to enhance procuratorial openness and transparency, a senior procurator said.

These procuratorates disclosed 102,440 pieces of information about major cases and 763,105 legal documents, and accepted 36,868 appointments related to defending and prosecution via the website supervised by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), Hu Zejun, executive deputy procurator-general of the SPP, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

In 2015, the public were given easier access to procuratorial affairs, and an open, dynamic, transparent and convenient judicial mechanism took shape, Hu said.

Procuratorates have also tried to improve transparency through public reviews, open hearings and other channels, according to Hu.
