China will devote more effort to elevating the quality of consumer goods in the next five years, the country's quality watchdog chief said Wednesday.
Authorities will closely monitor the quality of important consumer goods, such as air cleaners, rice cookers and clothing and toys for children and infants, Zhi Shuping, minister of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), told reporters.
He said China would also promote its quality evaluation standards to conform to international ones, forcing Chinese enterprises to improve their management.
