The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold the seventh "Love Knows No Borders" International Charity Sale on Oct 11 at the National Stadium Outdoor Warm-up Ground in Beijing, Liu Xia, director of the ministry's women's work committee, said on Friday.
This year's event will be hosted by the Foreign Minister Wang Yi's wife, Qian Wei, under the theme of "A Tribute to Rural Teachers in Yunnan". The funds raised will go to helping teachers working under harsh conditions at primary and secondary schools in Jinping and Malippo counties in Yunnan province.
Over 60 embassies, representative offices of international organizations and enterprises have confirmed their participation in this year's event, Liu said.
Initiated in 2009 by State Councilor Yang Jiechi, the charity raises funds by selling artifacts and food from all over the world. The six charity sales held so far raised a total of 18 million yuan, according to the ministry.
