Country's quality watchdog will establish monitor points in some residential communities to boost quality supervision and consumer awareness, an official said.
Sun Dawei, vice-minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said at a consumer education event in Beijing on Monday that the move is aimed at ensuring that the department will have timely feedback from consumers about quality of domestic and imported products.
"It will enable us to give more timely warning to consumers about defects of certain products, and also make it easier for consumers to test the products, he said.
The quality inspection agencies under the authority will conduct more free on-the-spot tests for the residents in the near future, he said.
"We will encourage quality inspection agencies to establish a connection with communities, schools, and rural townships to ensure that the on-the-spot tests are possible," he said.
The authority will also launch a three-month consumer awareness campaign to raise knowledge of consumer products safety, and respond to consumer concerns about product qualities.
