BEIJING - The Chinese government has allocated 400 million yuan ($65 million) to a county in Xinjiang that was struck by an earthquake and 100 million yuan to areas in Zhejiang ravished by a recent typhoon, according to the website of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
The 400 million yuan will be used for reconstruction of Pishan county in Xinjiang, which was hit by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake in early July. Three people were killed.
The 100 million yuan will be spent on disaster relief in coastal areas of East China's Zhejiang province affected by typhoon Chan-Hom.
Coming from the ministries of finance and civil affairs, the funds will mainly be used for relocating people, supplying them with daily necessities and repairing or rebuilding damaged buildings.
