BEIJING - China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Thursday that prosecutors are investigating two local officials from eastern and southern China on graft charges.
Xu Gang, a former senior Communist Party of China official from Wuxi city in Jiangsu province, and Chen Qiuhua, formerly head of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region's forestry department, were suspected of taking bribes, the SPP said.
It said prosecutors have put Xu under "coercive measures," which may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest, whereas Chen has already been arrested.
