High-speed railway connecting Hefei and Fuzhou cities was opened Sunday.
Travel time between the two capital cities of Anhui and Fujian provinces is reduced from the previous more than eight hours to less than four hours.
As a part of the Beijing-Fuzhou high-speed railway, the rail with a designed speed of 350 km per hour also helps to reduce travel time between Beijing and Fuzhou from more than 10 hours to within 8 hours.
The railway passing by Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces, connects many well-known tourism spots such as Huangshan, Wuyuan and Wuyishan of the provinces, respectively.
Construction of the railway, more than 800 km long, began in May 2010 and sees a total investment of about 43.8 billion yuan ($7.05 billion). Authorities said the rail will be expanded to Taiwan in the future.
