The Chinese mainland has transferred 370 suspects, including major fugitives, to Taiwan since the agreement on mutual judicial assistance that both sides signed in 2009.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the mainland-based Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, told a press briefing on Sept 24 that authorities from the two sides have maintained close communication and cooperation on handing over the fugitives.

"Taiwan has handed over four wanted fugitives to the mainland since the agreement took effect," he said.

Ma said a delegation of the Straits Exchange Foundation has concluded a six-day visit in Beijing on Tuesday, and they exchanged views with the mainland on cracking down crimes, mutual judicial assistance, and the protection of consumers' rights and interests.

The transfer includes the Taiwanese fugitive Yu Chaocong, who is believed to have fled to the mainland after being accused of shooting a local bar boss dead in January 2012. Yu was arrested in June 2012 in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
