Over 200 senior officials were taken by the National Development and Reform Committee of China to visit prisons, an attempt to warn them against corruption.
All the selected officials are in "high-risk" positions, meaning they are more likely to go astray.
During the visit, the officials were shown what life is like in two prisons, one in Beijing and the other in Hebei province. They also heard stories from prisoners who are also former officials and tell how they went wrong and the harm they brought to their families.
The officials said the visit was a vivid lesson, reminding them to keep a cool head and resist corruption.
China has investigated 41 senior officials at or above provincial level since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012. Most of them were dismissed for corruption and discipline violations.
