A ceremony to launch the 18th Mrs Globe pageant was held on July 30 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing.
China Central Television host Ni Ping hosted the ceremony, which was attended by Wu Guixian, former vice-premier of China, and many other female professionals across a number of industries.
Founded by the Women in Need Foundation in 1996 in the United States, the international contest is focused on the development of married women and has been held in the US and Europe. The contest only features married women.
China will feature a number of female contestants, from Beijing and Shanghai to the remote Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. There are candidates from more than 60 countries.
The champion will be announced at the end of November.
The contest aims to help guide women with philosophies on life, value and society in the hope that they become responsible, beautiful women. It will also hold various international women forums and seminars in China.
