China's land-based missile interception test successful

BEIJING - China has announced the success of a land-based missile interception test.
The test, conducted within its territory on Wednesday, "has achieved the preset goal", according to a statement posted on the website of the Ministry of National Defense.
Military authorities provided no other information about the test.
Such test could build shield for China's air defense by intercepting incoming warheads such as ballistic missiles.
