Six senior citizens from Jinzhong, Shanxi province, cycled more than 5,000 kilometers across 11 European countries, sxrb.com reported on Tuesday.
The group of six, who have an average age of 66, all are members of a cycling club. They began their trip on May 16 from Rome and completed a two-month bike tour of 11 countries, including Italy, the Vatican City, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
They rode about 80 kilometers per day, sometimes reaching 177 kilometers in a day. The team tried to conquer difficulties in communications by using mobile GPS navigation and English translation apps.
Liang Kaiyin, the oldest rider on the team, said they took the trip to promote a healthy lifestyle for elderly people.
