New nautical charts published by the PLA Navy Press to cover global waters were released in late June, ending the country's dependence on foreign charts for military and civil sailing, PLA Daily reported on June 29.
With demand increasing for Chinese commercial ships and the navy to sail internationally, the PLA Navy Press, as the country's official publication organization for nautical charts, released both paper and electronic charts.
The press also established a database for all global nautical charts, which can provide real-time marine geological information services to ships at sea, the newspaper reported.
