BEIJING - China on Thursday voiced opposition to the U.S. State Department's remarks on Hong Kong, and reiterated that Hong Kong's political system is its internal affair.

Hua made the remarks while commenting a statement by spokeswoman of the U.S. State Department Marie Harf, who said, "we do believe that the legitimacy of the chief executive will be greatly enhanced if the promise of universal suffrage is fulfilled and if the election provides the people of Hong Kong a genuine choice of candidates representative of the voters' will."
"The Chinese government firmly opposes interference from any foreign country in any form," Hua said.
