S China rainstorms kill 2, affect 130,000

NANNING - Two people were killed while more than 130,000 others have been affected by torrential rainstorms in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, authorities said on Wednesday.
Heavy downpours have swept across the region since Tuesday. As of 5 pm on Wednesday, two people had died and about 132,600 people were affected, according to regional civil affairs department.
A total of 1,770 hectares of crops have been affected and more than 99 houses have collapsed. It is estimated the rainstorms have caused direct economic losses of 21.29 million yuan ($3.4 million).
Heavy downpours have been wreaking havoc in south China during the past week. A previous round of rainstorms left four dead in Guangxi.
