The government of Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, is encouraging polluting enterprises to move from the downtown areas of the city with hefty rewards, China Business News reported on Wednesday.
According to a document issued recently by the city government, 19 polluting enterprises will be moved out from the urban areas of the city by 2017 and those that move one year ahead of schedule will be rewarded with 2 million yuan ($319,915) and will enjoy profitable policies on getting land for relocation.
In recent years, the city has often been listed as one of those suffering from the worst air quality in the country and is trying to improve its air quality by relocating such enterprises.
