Funeral held for Macao entrepreneur and politician

MACAO - The funeral for Ma Man-kei, a renowned entrepreneur in Macao and senior political advisor of the Chinese mainland, was held on Sunday morning in Macao.
Ma was a distinguished social activist, patriot and close friend of the Communist Party of China. He was vice chairman of the eighth, ninth, tenth and 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
He also held positions as permanent president of the Macao Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Chinese Literature Foundation.
Ma passed away on May 26 in Beijing at the age of 95.
During his last days and after he passed way, state leaders, including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan, Zhang Gaoli, and former presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao, either visited him in the hospital or sent condolences to his family.
Du Qinglin, vice chairman of the CPPCC, delivered a speech at the funeral, saying Ma had contributed his life to the development of the Chinese nation and the prosperity and stability of Macao.
