Longjing borders North Korea’s Hamgyong-Bukdo. The proximity gives the city an unparalleled advantage in developing tourism with North Korea, according to the Longjing Tourism Bureau.
On April 9, the Longjing city government signed a contract with its counterpart of Hamgyong-Bukdo, agreeing to open a route linking Longjing and North Korea’s Hoeryong.
The decision made Longjing the second city of Jilin province offering road trips to North Korea. The first city was Hunchun.
