Traffic police in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, were issued hi-tech anti-haze masks recently to protect them from smog and dust during their work, Hebei Daily reported on Thursday.
The masks, which cover the wearer's nose to protect from haze and dust, were donated by a technical company in Beijing.
The products, named nasal air purifiers and valued at a total of 100,000 yuan ($16,059) were first issued to traffic police in the city's Chang'an and Yuhua districts.
The purifiers can achieve a filtering effect of 99 percent when they have a 100 percent seal.
