Boasting more than 2,000 booths and tourism commodities from 1,200 companies worldwide, the 6th China International Tourism Commodities Fair will be held in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, from May 24 through 27.
Organized by the China Tourism Administration, China Tourism Association and Yiwu government, the event aims to promote outdoor leisure products, tourism equipment, hotel supplies and travel souvenirs in the four exhibition areas of the Yiwu International Expo Center.
The fair is intended to cater to the development of the entire outdoor product industry, said Xu Peng, deputy head of the tourism authority in Zhejiang province.
In addition to the exhibition, the government will also host a tourism commodity development conference, a press briefing about new product trends and a design competition for tourism commodities, he said.
With the world's largest small-commodity wholesale market, Yiwu receives some 500,000 foreign shoppers each year. Some 13,000 foreign businessmen from more than 100 countries and regions stay in the city year-round.
According to the organizing committee for the fair, the 5th tourism fair will welcome buyers from around the world, mostly from Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Products favored most by overseas and domestic customers last year were tourism souvenirs, outdoor leisure products and tourism equipment.
