A cooperation agreement has been signed between five universities and educational institutes in Beijing to improve the quality of education in the capital's Fengtai district.
The institutions are Beijing Normal University, the National Institute of Education Sciences, Beijing Institute of Education Sciences, Beijing Institute of Education and the high school attached to Tsinghua University.
Beijing Normal University will build its fourth affiliated middle school in Fengtai, based on the location of the middle school affiliated to Capital Normal University. The high school affiliated to Tsinghua University will open its Fengtai branch high school.
Heads of the five institutions signed the cooperation agreement with the Fengtai district government on Thursday aimed at promoting equality in educational resources in different parts of the capital.
Liu Limin, deputy education minister, said during the signing ceremony that Fengtai is doing a good job in attracting educational resources and building its own educational features.
"There are no other cities in China that have as many good educational resources as Beijing," Liu said. "Yet Beijing also faces challenges in promoting educational reforms. I believe such cooperation will greatly contribute to Fengtai district forming a good quality of education."
