BEIJING - Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan asked officials to rectify work styles as part of the campaign to improve public perception of the Party.

Liu, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting of the campaign's leading group on Sunday, saying that the achievements of the drive had still not met the requirement of the CPC Central Committee and the expectations of the public.

The one-year "mass-line" campaign was launched in June to bridge gaps between CPC officials and members, and the general public, while cleaning up undesirable work styles such as formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.

Officials' housing, offices, and public car use should be listed in the campaign, Liu said, adding that improper allocation and misuse of such resources should be rectified within a certain time.

The official said that gift exchanges and banquets using public fund should be strictly prohibited during New Year and Spring Festival holidays.

The campaign has various stages, including special sessions for officials to criticise colleagues and themselves, rectification of problems, and inspection of results.

Noting that the first phase of the campaign is coming to an end, Liu asked for in-depth research and opinions to do a better job in the  second-round.

More effort should be made to resolve the problems that the concern the masses most and rectify the work that people are dissatisfied with, the official added.

He called for integrating education and practice to promote the campaign with a serious attitude.
