A garbage incineration plant in Shanghai's suburban Jiading district exploded on Thursday afternoon and rescuers were still searching for one person buried in the collapsed building at 5:30 pm, local news portal xinmin.cn reported.
The explosion at the plant, Shanghai Jiangqiao, occurred around 3 pm and was caused by a buildup of methane gas, the report said. Part of the 400-square-meter plant building collapsed.
Four people were rescued from under the debris and rushed to a hospital.
