BEIJING - Two people were killed and another was injured in a brawl among employees of the Palace Museum in downtown Beijing on Friday, sources with the museum and police said.
The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. at a cafeteria of the museum, also known as the Forbidden City.
A 49-year-old man, only identified with his surname Zheng, stabbed two of his colleagues with a knife, sources said.
Police found two victims when they arrived at the cafeteria. One was already dead while the other died after rescue efforts failed, police said.
Zheng, who was also injured, was later found in an office. He was put into police custody and taken to a local hospital, but his condition and motivation are so far unknown.
No tourists were injured in the incident, according to museum sources.
Police are investigating the case.
