806 million people in pension system

Some 806.6 million people have joined the pension system on the Chinese mainland as of September, according to the statistics released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on Friday.
The first nine months saw about 2.32 trillion yuan ($381 billion) contributed to social insurance funds, a year-on-year rise of 13.7 percent, Yin Chengji, spokesman for the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, told a news conference in Beijing.
Meanwhile, spending on social insurance reached 1.92 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 20.6 percent, he said.
