Shanghai plans to expand its pilot education project for children with disabilities to more schools over the next few years.
Children with disabilities will receive personalized education and regular medical care based on their condition, officials from Shanghai Education Commission said.
So far, the project is being carried out on a trial basis in some districts. Children will first have a medical evaluation, and, based on the results, education departments will work out a unique curriculum plan for each student.
At the same time, community doctors will pay regular visits and offer help to teachers at special education schools.
