CHANGSHA - Police in Central China's Hunan province have arrested a local discipline and supervision official on suspicion of molesting two girls, local authorities said Wednesday.

The official surnamed Hu serves as vice head of the supervision bureau of Lixian county as well as a standing committee member of the local commission for discipline inspection, said an official from the county government.

Hu was placed under criminal detention on October 7 after police received reports from the girls' parents, and the procuratorate approved the arrest on Monday, the official said.

The investigation is still underway.
