A total of 11 inter-city transportation lines will be constructed in the next five years in Zhejiang province with an estimated investment of 132.52 billion yuan ($22 billion), according to the Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission.
A report released by the commission on Monday said the province will construct a total length of 461.6 km of inter-city transportation lines to link major cities in the province.
The construction, to start by the end of this year, will provide the key transportation means for people traveling within the province once finished.
Four of the 11 lines will be built as metros with designated speeds of 120 km per hour, while the remaining seven will serve as railways, reaching maximum speeds of 140 km per hour.
The lines will operate from 6 am to 12 pm, with train frequency comparable to buses, the report said.
