A murder case suspect who has been on the run for 19 years was caught recently by police in Sichuan province, Chongqing Morning News reported on Wednesday.
The suspect, surnamed Yang, 41, allegedly quarreled with a man surnamed Xie in Wansheng district, Chongqing, and killed him on Nov 29, 1994.
Yang fled and took the new name Yang Xin, and also had "exterminating Yang XX (his real name)" tattooed on his right arm as he wanted to become a new man.
On Sept 25 and 26, Yang committed two robberies in Gaoxian county, Sichuan province, and was caught by Sichuan police who learned Yang was a resident of Chongqing and reported him to Chongqing police. From the tattoo, Chongqing police thought Yang Xin might be the missing suspect and Yang then confessed.
Yang was detained and the case is under further investigation.
