BEIJING - The Chinese government has recommended 10 experts to the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to assist in the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a routine press briefing that the experts are ready to participate in the destruction in accordance with OPCW requirements.
China supports the OPCW to play an active role in the destruction of Syrian chemical weapons and is willing to provide expert and financial support, she said.
China hopes the decisions and resolutions of the OPCW and the UN Security Council will be implemented effectively, Hua said, calling on all sides to create favorable conditions in this regard.
