A man in Qianxi county, Guizhou province, was detained for 10 days for spreading a rumor online about a terrorist attack, Guizhou Metropolis Daily reported on Monday.
On Friday, a car caught fire as it was being driven in front of the county public security bureau.
The blaze was quickly put out by police officers. However, the man who saw the incident posted two photographs of the blazing car, which he posted online on Saturday, saying that the fire resulted from a terrorist attack outside the bureau that had also caused an explosion.
Police soon found the man who confessed to spreading the rumor online.
