BEIJING - Top leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) have urged Party members to further carry out a campaign to boost ties between the Party and the people.
The CPC launched a one-year "mass-line" campaign in June and vowed to eliminate four undesirable work styles: formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee attended provincial Party leadership meetings in recent days.
General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping joined a Hebei provincial Party leadership session from Sept. 23 to 25 and Li Keqiang attended a session in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Zhang Dejiang joined in a Jiangsu Province leadership session, and Yu Zhengsheng attended a session in Gansu Province. Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli joined sessions in Zhejiang, Heilongjiang and Sichuan provinces, respectively.
During the sessions, standing committee members of provincial Party committees examined their own conduct, laid out major problems and their causes, and set down plans for correction.
The top leadership said the results of the sessions are only initial objectives and urged long-term dedication of all Party members to cleaning up the four undesirable work styles.
The top leadership asked Party leadership at all levels to enhance study and improve ideological understanding, allow the people to join the campaign, address real problems and establish systems to eliminate root causes of problems.
The top leadership asked provincial Party leaders to serve as examples in maintaining unity with the Party's central authority, maintain close contact with the people, and improve their moral ethics.
Central authorities in charge of the mass-line campaign have been asked to maintain close contact and cooperation with provincial Party leadership.
