6th Intl Piano Competition to be held in Xiamen

The 6th China International Piano Competition will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province, from Nov 16 to 26.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Xiamen city government, the event has attracted 59 contestants from 15 countries.
Chaired by China's leading pianist Bao Huiqiao, the 13-member jury includes nine international piano masters such as Arie Vardi from Israel, Joaquin Soriano from Spain and Hiroko Nakamura from Japan.
Judges will select six winners who will receive prizes from $5,000 to $30,000.
Founded in 1994, the triennial competition is part of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and one of three international art events hosted by the Ministry of Culture. Previous winners include renowned Chinese pianists Qin Chuan and Li Yundi.
