Man stabs stranger for not offering free cigarette

A man has been detained for allegedly stabbing a stranger, who refused to give him a cigarette, in downtown Shanghai on Wednesday afternoon, Shanghai police said.
The man, who was having lunch in an eatery on Huaihai Road in the Huangpu district at around 1 pm, asked the victim to give him a cigarette. He pulled out a knife and stabbed him after being refused. The suspect hid in neighboring residential buildings afterward.
