Two men, who kidnapped a girl with the intention of collecting ransom money, not only ended up freeing the hostage but also in jail.
To pay their gambling debt, two men from Fujian province kidnapped an 11-year-old girl in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, on March 9.
They were hoping to blackmail the girl's parents for 1 million yuan ($163,000), but gave up the idea after the girl said that she came from a humble family.
The two men finally released the girl when driving in a rented car on an expressway.
One of them, surnamed Lu, even gave the girl 500 yuan.
Both men have been recently sentenced to jail terms ranging from four to five years.
